Travis Room-Classroom Style

The Travis room was once called the Cascade room—one of the five dining rooms the St. Anthony featured in1941. After The Great Depression, the St. Anthony had established itself as the most luxurious hotel in San Antonio along with becoming the place of choice for culinary enjoyment. The Cascade room showcased one of the most admired paintings in the hotel commissioned for Ralph Morrison-St. Anthony’s first owner and painted by artist Harry Anthony De Young entitled: “Chuck Wagon Time at Lazy R” referring to the position of the letter R on the entrance door of the room. Today the Lazy R constitutes one of the trademarks in Travis room--No longer a dining room--the Travis Room features a beautiful layout and design resembling a catholic style chapel. The room has hosted several wedding ceremonies due to the acoustic qualities of its design along with providing great space for any type of meeting. Today the admired painting is displayed as one of the room’s unique features of the Room.
