Welcome to the St. Anthony Hotel, a National Historical Landmark.

Named after the city of San Antonio as well as the Saint San Antonio de Padua, the St. Anthony was built in 1909 as the first luxury hotel in the city. The hotel was created by three ambitious Texas cattlemen B.L. Naylor, F.M. Swearingen, and A.H. Jones, who viewed the city of San Antonio as a burgeoning future tourist and historic destination for northeastern travelers.

With its rich history, elegant décor, and luxurious feel, the St. Anthony became the first historic San Antonio hotel to boast a number of firsts. The St. Anthony was the first hotel in San Antonio to be air conditioned, have a drive up garage level registration desk, use electric eye automatic opening doors, and to install the sophisticated Dimension telephone communication system.

A hundred years later, the St. Anthony remains as the first hotel of choice in San Antonio and for travelers around the world. Located across from Travis Park in the heart of downtown San Antonio, The St. Anthony is within walking distance of the San Antonio Convention Center, Paseo del Rio Riverwalk, Rivercenter Mall, the Alamo, and La Villita.
